Joomla is a type of open source free CMS that allows to easy publishing from the CMS to the web. Like most Content Management Systems, Joomla is written in PHP and implements Object Orientation Programming.

The interface allows for quick editing of web page content and the user is given a visual interface that employs a “What you see is what you get” (WYSIWYG) layout. The CMS page editor gives the user tools that allows the user to change the layout and colours of the content using a GUI which has buttons and easy to use options. This is much preferred as opposed to manually editing PHP code to change the layout.

Joomla gives the user a control panel that allows users to manage and edit content via the CMS to the web in an instance.

When installing Joomla, the user’s machine must support PHP applications since the CMS is made of PHP code.
